Sally Gorton

A Surrey artist working in watercolour, pastel and oils.

Welcome to my website

I enjoy working in watercolour, pastel and water-based oil paints. My subjects can often be described as a portrait; an interesting building, an old window, the glimpse of a garden, an arresting face or sleeping animal.

Many of my pictures are of places that are off the beaten track and you may spot me cycling around south west Surrey on an old black bicycle with a large wicker basket, stocked with sandwiches, camera and a sketchbook! As well as working plein air, I will also use my own sketches and photographic reference to produce my paintings. I also enjoy life drawing whenever I have the chance.

Please have a look at the pictures in my gallery. Many are past commissions but some are for sale, so feel free to contact me if you wish to purchase one or if you would like to commission something special.

  • The Fruits of Autumn - a one-day workshop and tuition.
  • On Thursday 9th September 2010 at the Surrey Wildlife Trust's beautiful Puck's Oak barn and orchard in Compton, near Guildford.
Places are limited so please contact me if you wish to reserve a place or would like more information.
